Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element having a long life.

SOLUTION: The light emitting element includes an electron transport layer 113 and a hole transport layer 112 between a first electrode 102 and a second electrode 104, and a first layer 121 and a second layer 122 between the electron transport layer 113 and the hole transport layer 112. The first layer 121 includes a first organic compound and a second organic compound, and the second layer 122 includes a third organic compound and a fourth organic compound. The first layer 121 is provided on a first electrode 102 side of the second layer 122. The second organic compound has electron transport properties, the third organic compound has electron trap properties, the fourth organic compound has electron transport properties, and emission color of the first organic compound and emission color of the third organic compound are in the same color system. Light emission from the first organic compound is obtained by the application of voltage to the first electrode 102 and the second electrode 104 so that a potential of the first electrode 102 is higher than a potential of the second electrode 104.

【解決手段】第1の電極102と第2の電極104の間に、電子輸送層113と正孔輸送層112を有し、電子輸送層113と正孔輸送層112との間に、第1の層121と第2の層122を有し、第1の層121は、第1の有機化合物と、第2の有機化合物とを有し、第2の層122は、第3の有機化合物と、第4の有機化合物とを有し、第1の層121は、第2の層122の第1の電極102側に設けられており、第2の有機化合物は電子輸送性を有し、第3の有機化合物は電子トラップ性を有し、第4の有機化合物は電子輸送性を有し、第1の有機化合物の発光色と第3の有機化合物の発光色は、同じ色系統であり、第1の電極102の方が第2の電極104よりも電位が高くなるように、第1の電極102と第2の電極104とに電圧を印加することにより、第1の有機化合物からの発光が得られる発光素子を提供する。
