Claims

1. A management system. (68) for a cold planer ( 10) and a plurality of haul vehicles (16, 18, 19) configured to transport milled material from the cold planer to a plant (20), the management system comprising:

one or more sensors (70) located onboard the cold planer and configured to generate data regarding at least one of cold planer operating parameters and milled material transferred from the cold planer to the plurality of haul vehicles;

a locating device (72) configured to generate a signal indicative of a cold planer location;

a communication device (74) configured to transfer information from the cold planer to the plant; and

a controller (57) in electronic communication with the one or more sensors and the locating device and configured to:

determine a rate of material transfer from the cold planer to the plurality of haul vehicles based on the data; and

transmit the rate of material transfer and the cold planer location to the plant via the communication device.

2. The management system of claim 1, wherein the rate of material transfer is one or more of a volume per unit of time, a weight per unit of time, and a number of haul vehicles per unit time.

3. The management system of claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to:

determine an amount of material yet to be milled based on one or more of the data and the cold planer location; and

transmit the amount of material to be milled to the plant via the communication device.

4. The management system of claim 3, wherein the controller is configured to:

determine a material ID associated with the rate of material transfer based on the cold planer location; and

transmit the material ID to the plant via the communication device.

5. The management system of claim 4, wherein: the plant includes a display (54) in electronic communication with the controller of the cold planer via the communication device; and

the controller of the cold planer is configured to show one or more of the rate of material transfer, the material ID, the amount of material yet to be milled, and the cold planer location to an operator of the plant via the display.

The management system of claim 4, wherein the plant includes a controller (32) in electronic communication with the controller of the cold planer via the communication device, the controller of the plant being configured to generate dispatch signals based on one or more of the data received from the cold planer and the cold planer location.

7. The management system of claim 6, wherein the controller of the plant is configured to generate a first dispatch signal indicative of a request for one or more of the plurality of haul vehicles to travel to the cold planer.

8. The management system of claim 7, wherein the controller of the plant is configured to determine the first dispatch signal based on one or more of the rate of material transfer, the amount of material yet to be milled, and the cold planer location.

9. The management system of claim 8, wherein the controller of the plant is configured to generate a second dispatch signal indicative of a location for one or more of the plurality of haul vehicles to deliver milled material received from the cold planer.

10. The management system of claim 9, wherein the controller of the plant is configured to generate the second dispatch signal based on the material ID.

11. A method of managing material transport from a cold planer (10) to a plant (20), the method comprising:

milling a work surface (14);

transferring milled material from the work surface into a haul vehicle (16, 18, 19);

generating data regarding at least one of cold planer operating parameters and the milled material transferred from the cold planer to the haul vehicle;

determining a rate of material transfer from the cold planer to the haul vehicle based on the data;

determining a location of the cold planer; and

transmitting the rate of material transfer and the location of the cold planer to the plant.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the rate of material transfer is one or more of a volume per unit of time, a weight per unit of time, and a number of haul vehicles per unit time.

13. The method of claim 12, further including: determining an amount of material yet to be milled based on one or more of the data and the location of the cold planer; and

communicating the amount of material yet to be milled to the plant.

14. The method of claim 13, further including: determining a material ID associated with the rate of material transfer based on the location of the cold planer; and

communicating the material ID to the plant.

15. The method of claim 14, further including showing one or more of the rate of material transfer, the material ID, the amount of material yet to be milled, and the location of the cold planer to an operator of the plant via a display (34).

16. The method of claim 14, further including generating a first dispatch signal indicative of a request for the haul vehicle to travel to the cold planer.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein the first dispatch signal is based on one or more of the rate of material transfer, the amount of material yet to be milled, and the location of the cold planer.

18. The method of claim 17, further including generating a second dispatch signal indicative of a location for the haul vehicle to deliver milled material received from the cold planer.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the second dispatch signal is based on the material ID.

20. A cold planer (10), comprising:

a frame (38);

a milling drum (42) connected to the frame;

a conveyor (60) pivotally connected to the frame and configured to load milled material into a haul vehicle (16, 18, 19);

one or more sensors (70) located onboard the cold planer and configured to generate data regarding at least one of cold planer operating parameters and milled material transferred from the cold planer to the haul vehicle;

a locating device (72) configured to generate a signal indicative of a cold planer location;

a communication device (74) configured to transfer information from the cold planer to a plant; and

a controller (57) in electronic communication with the one or more sensors and the locating device and configured to:

determine a rate of material transfer from the cold planer to the haul vehicle based on the data;

determine a material ID associated with the rate of material transfer based on the signal from the locating device; and

transmit one or more of the rate of material transfer, the material ID, and the cold planer location to the plant via the communication device.
