CLAIMS

What we claim is:

1. A device for prevention and/or detection of power line communication (PLC), between an unprotected side and a protected side, the device comprising a PLC detector, a power supply and at least one PLC filter.

2. The device of claim 1, wherein the device further comprises a PLC noise generator.

3. The device of any one of claims 1-2, wherein the frequency range of the PLC detector is about 3KHz - 100MHz.

4. The device of claim 3, wherein the frequency range of the PLC detector is about 40KHz - 30MHz.

5. The device of any one of claims l-4claim, wherein the PLC detector is a dual port detector.

6. The device according to any one of claims 1-5, wherein the frequency range of the PLC filter is about 3KHz - 100MHz.

7. The device according to claim 6, wherein the frequency range of the PLC filter is about 40KHz - 30MHz.

8. The device according to any one of claims 1-7, comprising at least two filters.

9. The device according to claim 8, comprising a first filter at the unprotected side of the device and a second filter at the protected side of the device.

10. The device according to claim 9, wherein the structure of the first filter at the unprotected side is different than the structure of the second filter at the protected side.

11. The device according to any one of claims 9-10, wherein the attenuation level of the first filter at the unprotected side is different than the attenuation level of the second filter at the protected side.

12. The device according to any one of claims 2-11, wherein the frequency range of the noise generator is about 3KHz - 100MHz.

13. The device according to claim 12, wherein the frequency range of the noise generator is about 40KHz - 30MHz.

14. The device according to any one of claims 2-12, wherein the noise generator is a dual port noise generator.

15. The device according to any one of claims 1-14, wherein the power supply provides zero-cross indication.

16. The device according to any one of claims 1-15, wherein the power supply comprises a backup rechargeable battery.

17. A method for preventing and/or detecting of power line communication (PLC), between an unprotected side and a protected side, the method comprising:

detecting PLC; and

filtering PLC.

18. The method of claim 17, further comprising a step of PLC noise generating.

19. The method of any one of claims 17-18, wherein the PLC detecting is performed by Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI), cross correlation, pattern recognition, neural networks, or any combination thereof.

20. The method of any one of claims 17-19, wherein the PLC detecting comprises detecting at two ports, a first port at the protected side and a second port at the unprotected side.

21. The method of claim 20, wherein the PLC detection method of each of the first port and the second port is different.

22. The method of claim 20, wherein the PLC detection parameters settings of the first port and the second port are different.

23. The method according to any one of claims 17-22, wherein the PLC filtering is performed by attenuation and/or blocking.

24. The method according to any one of claims 17-23, wherein the type of the generated noise is selected from: additive white gaussian noise (AWGN), frequency hopping noise, random n noise, or any combination thereof.

25. The method according to any one of claims 17-24, wherein the noise is generated at more than one port.

26. The method according to claim 25, wherein the type of the generated noise at each of said ports is different.

27. A system for prevention and/or detection of power line communication (PLC), between an unprotected side and a protected side, the system comprising: an end unit; and

a device, said device comprising a PLC detector, and at least one PLC filter.

28. The system according to claim 27, comprising a protected side and an unprotected side.

29. The system according to any one of claims 27-28, wherein the device further comprises a PLC noise generator.

30. The system according to any one of claims 27-29, wherein the end unit is selected from an electronic appliance, a personal computer, a printer, a scanner, or any unit connected to the mains.

31. The system according to any one of claims 27-30, wherein the device is embedded within the end unit.

32. The system according to any one of claims 27-31, wherein the device is embedded within a wall’s outlets.

33. The system according to any one of claims 27-32, wherein the device is a stand-alone device connected to shielded or unshielded cables.

34. The system according to any one of claims 27-33, wherein the devices comprise a casing, said casing is shielded or unshielded.

35. The system according to claim 34, wherein the casing of the device comprises metal and/or plastic.
