The improved vehicle navigation system can take advantage of the recent availability of low cost micro-machined and piezoelectric sensors, and partially overcomes the low dynamics and line of sight limitations of GPS receivers without resorting to the hard wired approach described above. The low cost sensors introduce system level errors due to their inherent DC offset and drift rates. The improved vehicle navigation system minimizes both the sensor induced errors and GPS low dynamic limitations by using a zero motion detection system as a self contained (within the navigation system), vehicle independent device.

L'invention concerne un système de navigation amélioré pour véhicule dans lequel on peut tirer partie des capteurs micro-usinés et piézoélectriques à faible coût récemment mis au point et surmonter en partie les limites restraintes des récepteurs du système mondial de radiorepérage (GPS) en matière de fonctionnement dynamique et de visibilité directe, sans recourir au câblage dont il est question dans la description. Les capteurs à faible coût susmentionnés introduisent des erreurs au niveau du système à cause des caractéristiques intrinsèques suivantes: décalage de courant contenu et taux de dérives. Le système de navigation amélioré pour véhicule offre la possibilité de réduire au minimum les erreurs induites par des capteurs et les limites restraintes en matière de dynamique, grâce à l'utilisation d'un dispositif indépendant du véhicule, complet en lui-même (intégré au système de navigation), pour la détection de mouvement nul.
