배기가스 정화장치(1)는 배기가스의 흐름 방향을 따라 착탈 가능하게 직렬 배치된 통 형상의 본체 셀(31) 및 출구측 셀(41)과, 본체 셀(31) 내에 배치된 CSF (32)를 구비하고, 본체 셀(31)과 CSF(32) 사이에는 단열 매트(322)가 개재되고, 본체 셀(31)에 있어서의 출구측 셀(41)측의 단부에는 팽출부(51)가 형성되고, 출구측 셀(41)에 있어서의 본체 셀(31)측의 단부에는 본체 셀(31)측을 향해서 확개된 플레어부(61)가 형성되고, 각 셀(31, 41)은 팽출부(51)와 플레어부(61)에 걸쳐지는 V인서트(71)를 갖는 체결구(7)에 의해 서로 접속되고, CSF(32)의 출구측 셀(41)측의 단부는 단열 매트(322)의 단부보다 출구측 셀(41)측으로 돌출되고, 또한 본체 셀(31)의 단부보다 내측에 위치하고 있다.
