The invention concerns an article comprising a substrate having a main surface covered with a coating part of which at least is mesoporous and has a refractive index profile with optical function, the variation of which is imposed by the mesopore content and/or the filling factor of the mesopores. The profile may be such that the refractive index varies depending on the distance to a given axis, or such that the refractive index variation is monotone decreasing along any axis perpendicular to the surface of the substrate underlying the mesoporous part of said coating and oriented away from the substrate. The invention also concerns methods for making said articles, which differ depending on the technique from which the refractive index profile is created. The invention is applicable to ophthalmological optics.

La présente invention a pour objet un article comprenant un substrat ayant une surface principale revêtue d'un revêtement dont au moins une partie est mésoporeuse et présente un profil d'indice de réfraction à fonction optique, dont la variation est imposée par la teneur en mésopores et/ou le taux de remplissage des mésopores. Le profil peut être tel que l'indice de réfraction varie selon la distance à un axe donné, ou tel que la variation d'indice de réfraction est monotone décroissante suivant tout axe perpendiculaire à la surface du substrat sous-jacente à la partie mésoporeuse dudit revêtement et orienté dans le sens de l'éloignement du substrat. La présente invention a également pour objets des procédés de fabrication de l'article ci-dessus, qui diffèrent selon la technique à partir de laquelle est crée le profil d'indice de réfraction. Application à l'optique ophtalmique.
