(EN)The present invention describes a process to recover highly pure $g(b)-carotene crystals from a crude crystal preparation obtained from a natural source. To remove impurities, the crude crystals are stirred in a solvent in which $g(b)-carotene has a low solubility, whereupon the crystals are filtered off and washed with fresh solvent. Using the process of the invention, a natural crystalline $g(b)-carotene preparation with a very high purity is obtained, a purity comparable to that of synthetic $g(b)-carotene.
(FR)Procédé permettant de récupérer des cristaux de $g(b)-carotène extrêmement purs à partir d'une préparation de cristaux bruts obtenue à partir d'une source naturelle. Pour enlever les impuretés, on remue les cristaux bruts dans un solvant dans lequel le $g(b)-carotène présente une faible solubilité, puis on récupère les cristaux par filtrage et on les lave avec du solvant neuf. Le procédé de la présente invention permet d'obtenir une préparation cristalline naturelle de $g(b)-carotène à pureté extrêmement élevée, comparable à celle du $g(b)-carotène synthétique.
