(EN): An example method for causing a perturbation of blood glucose level in a subject is described herein. The method can include selectively inhibiting neural activity of at least one of a hepatic branch of the subject's vagus nerve or the subject's greater splanchnic nerve using electrical stimulation having a frequency greater than about 5 kHz. The selective inhibition of neural activity causes the subject's blood glucose level to increase or decrease as compared to a baseline level.
(FR): L'invention concerne un procédé illustratif pour provoquer une perturbation de la glycémie chez un sujet. Le procédé peut consister à inhiber sélectivement l'activité neurale d'une ramification hépatique du nerf vague du sujet et/ou du nerf grand splanchnique du sujet à l'aide d'une stimulation électrique ayant une fréquence supérieure à environ 5 kHz. L'inhibition sélective de l'activité neurale provoque l'augmentation ou la diminution de la glycémie du sujet par rapport à une glycémie de référence.
