Claims
1 . A valve having a leaf structure with inner and outer edges, and having a structure for supporting the leaf structure, the valve being locatable in a particular configuration within a vessel of a patient, wherein the said configuration si such that an outer edge of the or each leaf is arranged to engage the vessel wall, and such that inner edges or an inner edge of the or each leaf are arranged to permit fluid flow in one direction in the vessel and to engage each other and to prevent fluid flow in the other direction in the vessel.
2. The valve of claim 1 , wherein the supporting structure forms part of the leaf structure of the or each leaf, or the valve of claim 1 or 2 or 3, wherein an outer part of the or each leaf at least partially comprises or is connected to a frame support structure.
3. The valve of claim 2, wherein the frame has, prior to deployment, been constructed in a substantially flat or partially curved configuration, and wherein the said particular configuration is substantially saddle shaped or cusp shaped.
4. The valve of claims 2 or 3, where in the leaf or leaves is/are formed of, include, or are provided with covering material, and/or wherein the covering material comprises an extra cellular collagen matrix such as includes small intestinal submucosa, or a biomaterial.
5. The valve of claim 4, wherein when the valve has a single leaf, the covering has a slit therein to form the said inner edges, and/or wherein when the valve has two or three or more leaves, each of the leaves has covering material extending to the said inner edges.

The valve of claims 3 and 5, wherein, when the frame has three leaves whose outer edges lie approximately 1 20° with respect to one another, the leaves are so arranged that the opening thereof formed by the inner edges assumed a triangular shape when the valve was in the substantially flat or curved configuration, prior to deployment, or wherein when the valve has four leaves whose outer edges lie approximately 90° with respect to one another, the leaves are so arranged that the opening thereof formed by the inner edges assumed a square shape when the valve was in the substantially flat or curved configuration prior to deployment.
7. The valve of claims 3, 4, 5, or 6, wherein the frame is made of polymeric or of bio absorbable material, and/or wherein one or more barbs are provided for securing the frame when in deployment.
8. An implantable vascular valve comprising:
a covering including first and second oppositely facing curvilinear surfaces when positioned across a vascular opening and also including at least a first arcuate outer edge that exerts pressure against, and at least forms a partial seal with, a vascular wall when positioned thereagainst;
wherein the covering also includes an orifice extending through the oppositely facing curvilinear surfaces;
wherein the orifice is in a closed position blocking fluid flow therethrough when fluid is applied to the first oppositely curvilinear surface with the valve positioned across the vascular opening; and
wherein the orifice is in an open position permitting fluid flow therethrough when fluid is applied to the second oppositely curvilinear surface with the valve positioned across the vascular opening.
9. A multiple-sided intraluminal medical device comprising:
a single frame having a closed circumference with an aperture therethrough, said closed circumference having a plurality of sides, adjacent ones of said plurality of sides and interconnecting bends, the frame adapted to assume a plurality of configurations, a fist configuration of the plurality of configurations being in a generally flat plane;
wherein, the frame, having been formed in a first shape, is so constrained into a second shape such that at least selected ones of the plurality of bends, having been resiliently formed into a first angle between respective adjacent ones of the plurality of sides, are maintained at a second angle such that the frame is constrained against its bias to return to the first shape such that the at least selected ones of the plurality of bends would reassume the first angle between the adjacent ones of the plurality of sides.
10. The device of claim 9 wherein the frame is constrained by a flexible covering attached to the respective adjacent ones of the plurality of sides.
1 1 . The device of claim 9 wherein the frame includes a continuous length of a resilient material that has been attached to itself such that the at least selected ones of the plurality of bends are constrained into the second angle.
