This image-receiving medium eliminates the necessity of providing an image-receiving layer and enables rapid formation of a well-defined image such as face photograph according to the thermal transfer process without causing any curling resulting from thermal transfer.

The heat quantity in the regenerator (3 or 5) is prevented from being excessively controlled and crystallization of the absorbent liquid (23a) at the outlet (6a) of a heat exchanger (6) is also prevented. Heat loss incurred when regenerated refrigerant (24) is returned to the condensed absorbent liquid (23a) is avoided.
