The invention relates to a method for obtaining a metallic substrate with ceramic coating by means of plasma electrolytic oxidation, in which the substrate comprises a core and an outer layer of a different metal to that of the core or an intermetallic compound, said outer layer being obtained by thermal spraying, laser, solid or liquid diffusion, hot-dip galvanising or carburising. In this way, a ceramic coating is obtained that can be used on any metallic substrate and is resistant to degradation owing to fretting corrosion.
