Mammalian central nervous system (CNS) neurons do not regenerate after injury due to the inhibitory environment formed by the glial scar, largely constituted by myelin debris. The use of biomaterials to bridge the lesion area and the creation of an environment favoring axonal regeneration is an appealing approach, currently under investigation. This work aimed at assessing the suitability of three candidate polymers - poly(?-caprolactone), poly(trimethylene carbonate-co- ?-caprolactone) (P(TMC-CL)) (11:89 mol%) and poly(trimethylene carbonate) - with the final goal of using these materials in medicine, namely in the development of conduits to promote spinal cord regeneration. Cortical neurons cultured on P(TMC-CL) in the presence of myelin were able to tame myelin inhibition in comparison with the control condition (glass substrate). This effect was found to be mediated by the glycogen synthase kinase 3p (GSK3p) signaling pathway with impact on the collapsin response mediator protein 4 (CRMP4), suggesting that nanomechanical properties were implicated in this process. The obtained results indicate P(TMC-CL) as a promising material for CNS regenerative applications as it promotes axonal growth, taming myelin inhibition.

The invention also relates to a process of remote command of a vehicle comprising the steps of copying the spatial orientation of controller (11), and simultaneously detecting non-executable orders, in this last case the process contemplates the automatic control of the vehicle in a security mode until executable orders are introduced. The present invention discloses a laryngoscope to help endotracheal intubations with the ability to measure and record the torque resulting from the force applied on the standard laryngoscope blade commercial available. The laryngoscope is composed by a standard blade (18) equipped with an optical fiber and is articulated in the pin (17) located in the laryngoscope head (41); the main body (42), were are all the electronic components and sensors are installed being closed by the handle cover (43). The laryngoscope has wireless communication capability and can communicate with a remote computer or other portable devices where a designed application is used to monitoring, visualization and recording all acquired data. The device has an inertial unit (24) to determine its spatial orientation according to the three main axis. The sound or/and visual alarms (13, 1) correspondent to an eventual excessive force compared to a certain predefined level are available in the laryngoscope handle head (41) or in the remoteO computer or mobile device. The laryngoscope includes also, a LED to illuminate oral cavity, with variable intensity according to the user needs. The sensors in this Laryngoscope make it suitable for hospital use, in the training of professionals in dummies or other situation where the opening of the oral cavity is required. Allowing this way the visualization of the movement and torque in real time, as well as recording and afterwards reviewing the procedure.

The present invention relates to the production of reactive aqueous emulsions comprising organic micro or nanoparticles with encapsulated metal alkoxides in their monomeric form, for the production of composite coatings to be used as paints and varnishes. These are reactive emulsions in the sense that the formation of inorganic chains and crosslinks only occurs at the desired timing, after application over the substrate and drying. The final coating presents a composite network structure, comprised by mutually crosslinked organic and inorganic chains, which confers high mechanical, abrasion, and chemical resistance to the coating, as well as good malleability and mechanical impact resistance.
