The present invention relates to processes for the production of microbial glycolipids, mannosylerythritol lipids (MEL), from lignocellulosic carbon source. These processes are characterized in that the use of lignocellulosic materials for the production of a microbial glycolipids, MEL, comprising a fermentation preferably using fungi of the genus Pseudozyma or other microorganisms such as genetically modified fungi or bacteria. The processes for production of microbial glycolipids, MEL comprise three steps: pretreatment of lignocellulosic material; enzymatic hydrolysis; and. fermentation. The enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation may take place sequentially or simultaneously with addition of exogenous enzymes or simultaneously with enzymes produced by the microorganism itself. The produced microbial glycolipids have applications as: biosurfactants; antimicrobials; anticancer agents; wound healing factors; stabilizer agents on storage and purification of proteins or vaccines; drugs and gene deliver agents; antifreeze agents.

The present invention relates to a multilayer injection-moulding and blow-moulding method, pertaining to the field of mechanical engineering and used for processing thermoplastic polymer materials. The claimed method allows combining multilayer injection-moulding with blow-moulding. The layers of injection-moulded material can be produced before, at the same time as or after the blow-moulding process. The combination of these two processes makes it possible to obtain a part composed of one or more thermoplastic raw materials having a polymer matrix, and to take advantage of both processes simultaneously. The method can be implemented using a single mould, allowing parts having features due to each of the processes to be produced in a single moulding cycle. It also allows the production of plastic parts in which features due to both processes are combined. The raw material used for the second injection-moulding step can be the same as the raw material used for the first injection-moulding step, or can differ therefrom so as to give the finished product different colours or physical characteristics.

The present invention relates to a production optimisation and control method and device (1) for a thermoplastics injection-moulding process. The method applied by the device for optimising the thermoplastics injection-moulding process results from the incorporation of specific sensors in the tool, the mould (7) (8), the injection-moulding machine and any peripheral device where this might be required. The signals from these sensors as post-processed, making it possible to determine the actual processing conditions during injection-moulding, and to verify whether the actual processing conditions correspond to predetermined processing conditions. If that is not the case, data are supplied to the injection-moulding machine and/or peripheral devices in order to optimise processing conditions without any user intervention. The thermoplastics injection-moulding process is controlled during production on the basis of the results obtained, since these results also allow irregularities in the thermoplastics injection-moulding process to be detected. The method is similar, and the emphasis on data post-processing favours the production management side. The production control man-machine interface (10) is stratified, allowing local or remote operation, production monitoring or device management.

The present invention relates to the development of a peptide nucleic acid (PNA) probe for detecting Escherichia coli, O157:H7 serotype, in various types of samples. PNA is a synthetic molecule analogous to the DNA molecule which, owing to its physico-chemical properties, allows for faster and more sensitive analysis than DNA probes. These probes are combined with fluorescence in situ hybridisation (FISH), a molecular biology technique that allows microorganisms to be viewed directly in the sample. The combination of these two techniques allowed a faster, simpler and more efficient FISH process to be developed. This test can be applied to a large variety of samples, such as foodstuffs, blood, biopsies, faeces, water and other clinical samples, and samples from the environment, the agricultural and foodstuff industries. The present invention also includes the development of the detection kit and corresponding method for identifying E. coli O157:H7 using the above-mentioned types of samples.
