Abstract:

(EN)This application describes miRNAs that may be used as serum or plasma biomarkers for characterizing lung disease in a patient. These miRNA biomarkers may be used alone or in combination with other markers for the diagnosis, prognosis, or monitoring of diseases such as lung cancer. In one embodiment, a method for characterizing lung cancer in a patient with a lung tumor or lesion comprising the steps of: measuring the level of a miRNA in a serum sample, and determining reduced or elevated levels of the miRNA in the sample, thereby characterizing lung cancer in the patient.
