(EN)Compositions, methods and kits are described for identifying biomolecules (e.g., proteins and nucleic acids) expressed in a biological sample that are associated with the presence, development, or progression of a disease (such as cancer), or more generally determination of the etiology or risk factors associated with a disease. Sample types analyzed by the disclosed methods include but are not limited to archival tissue blocks that have been preserved in a fixative, tissue biopsy samples, tissue microarrays, and so forth. The methods disclosed herein correlate expression profiles of biomolecules with various disease types, and allow for the determination of relative survival rates; in some embodiments, the methods permit determination of survival rates for a subject with cancer. In other embodiments, the disclosure relates to methods for evaluating therapeutic regimes for the treatment, such as treatment of cancer.
(FR)La présente invention concerne des compositions, des méthodes et des kits permettant d'identifier des molécules biologiques (par exemple des protéines et des acides nucléiques) exprimées dans un échantillon biologique qui sont associées à la présence, au développement, ou à la progression d'une maladie (comme le cancer), ou plus généralement la détermination de l'étiologie ou des facteurs de risque associés à une maladie. Les types d'échantillon analysés par les méthodes décrites comprennent entre autres des blocs tissulaires d'archive qui ont été conservés dans un fixateur, des échantillons de biopsie tissulaire, des puces tissulaires etc. Les méthodes décrites ici mettent en corrélation les profils d'expression des molécules biologiques avec divers types de maladie et permettent la détermination de taux de survie relatifs; dans certains modes de réalisation, les méthodes permettent la détermination de taux de survie pour un patient atteint d'un cancer. Dans d'autres modes de réalisation, la présente invention concerne des méthodes permettant d'évaluer des schémas thérapeutiques à des fins de traitement, comme le traitement du cancer.
