(EN)The present process for the automatic calculus of the contour is an algorithm designed to compute the polygon that describes the area occupied by a set of points in a bi-dimensional space (2D). The automatic calculus of the contour always generates a regular polygon, convex or concave, processes arbitrary sets of points, adapts itself to the spatial density variation of the points and does not require any previous knowledge concerning the spatial density of the points under analysis. The automatic calculus of the contour can be integrated into software applications to allow the automatic creation of convex or concave polygons from a list of points. The automatic calculus of the contour can be used in any application that requires the definition of the boundary of the region occupied by a set of points, or its contour, such as the automatic identification of the boundary of a region occupied by a set of geo-referenced points of interest (POIs).
(FR)L'invention concerne un procédé de calcul automatique du profil, qui constitue un algorithme conçu pour calculer le polygone décrivant la surface occupée par un ensemble de points dans un espace bidimensionnel (2D). Le calcul automatique du profil produit toujours un polygone régulier, convexe ou concave, traite des ensembles arbitraires de points, s'adapte à la variation de densité spatiale des points et ne nécessite aucune connaissance préalable concernant la densité spatiale des points analysés. Le calcul automatique du profil peut être intégré dans des applications logicielles afin de produire automatiquement des polygones convexes ou concaves à partir d'une liste de points. Le calcul automatique du profil peut être utilisé dans toute application nécessitant la définition de la limite de la région occupée par un ensemble de points, ou son profil, p. ex. identification automatique de la limite d'une région occupée par un ensemble de points étudiés géoréférencés.
