(EN)This invention concerns deterring vandalism. In particular the invention concerns a system and method suitable for deterring the creation of graffiti in or on public transport vehicles. The invention uses an audio transducer mounted on public transport infrastructure to generate a signal representing the average sound pressure level in its vicinity. A pattern classification engine is operable to receive samples of the signal and divide them into blocks. Then, recognise audio-based features associated with different types of sounds in blocks of the signal and, finally to assign a graffiti class label to each block.
(FR)Cette invention concerne la dissuasion du vandalisme. En particulier, l'invention concerne un système et un procédé appropriés pour dissuader la création de graffitis dans ou sur des véhicules de transport public. L'invention utilise un transducteur audio monté sur une infrastructure de transport public pour générer un signal représentant le niveau de pression acoustique moyenne dans son voisinage. Un moteur de classification de motif est actionnable pour recevoir des échantillons du signal et les diviser en blocs. Ensuite, des caractéristiques d'audio associées à différents types de sons dans les blocs du signal sont reconnues et, enfin une étiquette de classe de graffitis est attribuée à chaque bloc.
