(EN)The present invention relates to authenticating a mobile device using logical location information associated with the device which provides an indication of the proximity of the device to other devices. The present invention provides a mechanism for authenticating a mobile device based on location related information or a 'logical location', but without requiring an actual location. The mobile user device identifies or discovers other devices, using direct wireless communication, within its vicinity and forwards this information to the authenticating authority. If this information matches previous or otherwise pre-determined information, then the device is authenticated.
(FR)La présente invention concerne l'authentification d'un dispositif mobile à l'aide d'informations de position logique associées au dispositif qui fournissent une indication de la proximité du dispositif par rapport à d'autres dispositifs. La présente invention concerne un mécanisme permettant d'authentifier un dispositif mobile sur la base d'informations associées à la position ou d'une 'position logique' sans l'aide d'une position réelle. Le dispositif utilisateur mobile identifie ou découvre d'autres dispositifs, à l'aide d'une communication sans fil directe, dans son voisinage et transmet ces informations à l'autorité d'authentification. Si ces informations correspondent à des informations antérieures ou prédéterminées d'une autre manière, le dispositif est alors authentifié.
